Coronation Street star and his wife see award-winning café threatened by new development
CORONATION Street star Simon Gregson and his wife may have to close their award-winning café to make way for a new development.
Morley Tea Rooms has seen its popularity soar since baker Emma took over last October.
But an application for four homes on the site was approved this month despite 188 objections.
Emma has described the cafe in Wilmslow, Cheshire, as her “life-long dream business” and it recently won the Good Food Award Blue Ribbon.
Simon, 49 — Corrie’s Steve McDonald — shared a picture of the couple and wrote: “All the crazy hours and hard work has paid off. Oh, and Emma got this award.”
The couple had visited the tearooms — part of a garden centre site — for years.

Simon said in May: “Sometimes when we're busy I'll help out, but Emma doesn't need or want my help really.
“I've had a few colleagues in and they'll say 'you're not really taking my order are you?' but I do it more as a laugh.
“It's amazing what Emma has done already here, I'm so proud.
“People are queuing out of the door for her cakes.”
Simon’s agent was contacted for comment.
