Coronation Street star’s surprise return six months after shock exit accidentally revealed by co-star with backstage pic

CORONATION Street actress Erin Austen is returning to the cobbles, but her comeback was announced accidentally by a co-star.

The 29-year-old will be stepping back into her role of club promoter Crystal Hyde.

However, before the news broke, Charlotte Jordan shared a behind-the-scenes snap of the two of them in costume.

Charlotte, who plays Daisy Midgeley in the soap, wrote in the caption: "Erin Austen & I wanna play sisters please," referring to their similar looks.

They both grinned by the studio door, with Erin joking that she "looked like an Aldi version" of Charlotte.

Erin wore an oversized lambskin and leather jacket over a fluffy body warmer.

She added a pair of ripped light blue jeans and her honey-toned hair was softly curled.

Charlotte looked effortlessly chic in a woolen tartan coat, skinny jeans and a pair of heeled black boots.

Erin made her debut in March as she flirted up a storm with Ryan Connor at the Bistro.

However after she discovered he was the victim of an acid attack and was badly scarred she left to return to her life in Ibiza.

Viewers will remember that Ryan thought he was in a long-distance relationship with Crystal before he made the shock discovery that she was actually in a coma and he had been catfished.

He was later devastated to discover that friend Daisy Midgeley had been the one catfishing him.

Since then the former pals have embarked on a passionate affair, behind Daisy’s fiancee Daniel’s back, putting their problems behind them.

But now Crystal’s return is set to throw a spanner in the works.

A source said: “Crystal’s return will certainly liven up the cobbles.

“The clubbing beauty has her eye on Ryan but she’ll also have Daisy in her sights once she learns how she was used to catfish Ryan.

“It’s set to be explosive.”

Actress Erin has already begun filming her comeback and will be seen back on the cobbles later this year.

Meanwhile the soap is also bringing back Lucy Fallon as Bethany Platt for a dramatic Christmas storyline.
