host Warwick Davis, 53, was furious with the decision and took to X, formerly Twitter, to share his disgust.

Alongside a poster for the 2022 series, he wrote: “I meet lovely people on a daily basis who are fans of #Willow, who are the reason the @DisneyPlus Series was made.

“Please tell me Disney, what do I say to these subscribers when they ask why they can’t watch the series any more?”

He added that the move was just “embarrassing.”

Willow fans were quick to respond, sharing their disappointment at the cancellation in the comments section.

One said: “Willow not getting a 2nd series is the greatest travesty of television. Best show of 2022! Even the behind-the-scenes video was hilarious.”

A second fan agreed: “I didn’t know you couldn’t watch the series anymore – but I’ll add my voice to the chorus saying the new #Willow was great – it was fun and exciting and I loved every minute!”

“Being cheated out of a second series was bad enough, but removing the first from Disney+ was a travesty,” a third chimed in.

“Can’t believe it’s just simply not available to view.. like it never existed. Crazy,” added a fourth fan.

The Harry Potter alum has been part of the Willow franchise since he starred in the 1988 period fantasy film of the same name when he was just 17-years-old.

He played the titular character Willow Ufgood and continued his characters’ story in the 2022 series.

“The story began with an aspiring magician from a Nelwyn village and an infant girl destined to unite the realms, who together helped destroy an evil queen and banish the forces of darkness.

“Now, in a magical world where brownies, sorcerers, trolls, and other mystical creatures flourish, the adventure continues, as an unlikely group of heroes set off on a dangerous quest to places far beyond their home, where they must face their inner demons and come together to save their world,” the show’s official synopsis explained.

In the series, Warwick is joined by Ellie Bamber as Elora Danan, Ruby Cruz as Princess Kit Tanthalos, Erin Kellyman as Jade, Tony Revolori as Prince Graydon, Amar Chadha-Patel as Thraxus Boorman, and Dempsey Bryk as Prince Airk.

However, Willow was axed as part of the streaming service’s cost-cutting measures as a result of low viewership.

The showrunner, Jonathan Kasdan, previously shared his thoughts on the decision. In complete contrast with Warwick’s statement, Jonathan said he was fine with the decision as he this not being able to stream Willow will make it more special for fans.

He said: “I worry about many things…but none of them are that Willow will never be available again, either on [Disney+] or perhaps...someplace else, and you never know where that could lead… stranger things have happened.”

The showrunner concluded: “So grateful for all the love and enthusiasm; it’s truly what keeps these worlds alive.”
