Speaking about the new project, Marc said: "We couldn't be more excited to bring Halloween to television."

"We are thrilled to expand our long and successful partnership with Trancas and the brilliant Malek Akkad in introducing this iconic franchise to a new form of storytelling and a new generation of fans."

Akkad echoed Helwig's excitement and added: "Trancas International Films is extremely enthused to be expanding our long-standing relationship with Miramax.

"And we look forward to working with Marc Helwig and the entire team in creating this new chapter."

In 1978, the first ever Halloween movie was released.

It told the story of serial killer Michael Myer's vendetta against Laurie Strode, played by Jamie Lee Curtis.

The famous horror spawned twelve sequels and spin-offs, including several reboots and several timelines for viewers to follow.

The most recent movie from the franchise was released in 2022, titled Halloween Ends, also starring Jamie Lee, who is out for revenge.

Halloween Kills was made the year before, in  2021, respectively – but it's unclear if Curtis will reprise her role in future Halloween properties.

Previously speaking about the franchise's future, Halloween Ends writer-director David Gordon-Green said: "At some point, someone will maybe bring a new Laurie into something, some twist will happen, and the mythology will continue.

"But I do feel like this is the last time we're going to see her nervous smile and those fun, enlightening attributes of Laurie Strode."

Netflix is currently streaming the first-ever Halloween movie made as well as the 2007 remake and Halloween Kills.
