STREET CHAOS

Five huge ITV Coronation Street theories: prison sentence, scamming plot and Peter Barlow’s exit rumbled

CASSANDRA Plummer returned to Weatherfield in the hopes of bonding with her long-lost son Tyrone Dobbs.

But the police could be on her tail this week in Coronation Street. Meanwhile, one resident joins Stephen Reid’s hit list.

The police approach Tyrone

1. Prison trouble for Cassie

Cassandra Plummer (portrayed by Claire Sweeney) shocked her son Tyrone (Alan Halsall) by resurfacing after she was claimed to have died.

Since then, as witnessed by ITV viewers who are fully convinced the newcomer is up to no good, the mechanic has tried to bond with his mother but she is still clearly struggling with her drug addiction.

This week, things seem to go from bad to worse for Cassie.

After getting angry during a meeting at the taxi firm, she storms off as she is being told to keep quiet and let Kevin Webster, Tyrone and Abi Webster do the talking during a meeting.

However, they are distracted when a police officer arrives and tells Tyrone they have reason to believe his car was involved in a hit and run and they want to examine the car.

Tyrone later finds Cassie in the café with his grandmother Evelyn (Maureen Lipman).

He then asks where Cassie was on September 11th as his car was used in a hit and run.

Cassie denies she had anything to do with it but it is clear Evelyn doesn’t believe her.

Stu Carpenter’s granddaughter Eliza Woodrow was left injured after a car crashed into her at the precinct.

Eliza was arguing with the Speed Daal chef at the time about her bonding with her biological father Dom.

The vehicle vanished before Stu could figure out who was driving it and Eliza was taken to hospital.

Viewers of the Manchester-based program are expecting Cassie to be revealed as the driver and she could be getting legal comeuppance as a result.

Could Cassie’s time in the cobbles end with a one-way ticket to prison?

And Cassie takes a liking to another resident

2. Shock affair

This remains to be seen but what if another Corrie resident gave her an alibi after taking a liking to her?

After being confronted by her son, Cassie drowns her sorrows, leading to Kevin (Michael Le Vell) finding her drunk in Victoria Garden.

Pointing out that she can’t go home in her current state, Kevin offers her the couch at No.13.

The following day, a hungover Cassie arrives for work and makes out to Tyrone she spent the night at a friend’s place.

Kevin tells his wife Abi (Sally Carman) he found Cassie drunk and let her spend the night on their couch but she doesn’t want Tyrone to find out.

Cassie calls at the garage and thanks Kevin for not grassing her up to Tyrone.

As Kevin goes to put the kettle on, Cassie watches him fondly – could this lead to tensions with Abi?

Could Carla work out a plan to take Stephen down?

3. Carla takes action

Stephen Reid (played by Todd Boyce) has been wreaking havoc throughout Weatherfield since he first showed up in Corrie in 2022.

In late 2022, Stephen claimed his first victim, Leo Thompkins, whose body was recently found.

Things snowballed and, after more than a year, Stephen has managed to claim a total of three lives and committed a series of villainous deeds in the cobbles.

One of them consisted of drugging Underworld factory boss Carla Connor (Alison King) in an attempt to take over the business.

Carla figured out she had been spiked with LSD earlier this year after it was believed she was going through a psychotic relapse.

The serial killer’s reign of terror slowly comes to an end as Carla opens the letter from the clinic confirming there were traces of LSD in her hair sample.

She tells her husband Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) she thinks it was Rufus Donahue but having checked the dates of her illness it doesn’t add up as he was killed off prior to her mental breakdown and her stay in a mental health facility.

In the factory, Carla grimaces as she takes a sip of a coffee made by Michael Bailey (Ryan Russell).

When Michael apologises, and points out that normally Stephen or Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) make the coffee, Carla freezes as the truth dawns.

Carla drags Stephen into the office and tells him she knows he spiked her drinks with LSD and she’s going to prove it.

As Carla storms out Sarah’s unease is evident and the businesswoman hares her suspicions about Stephen with DS Swain.

But she’s frustrated when DS Swain asserts that it’s mere speculation and she needs proper evidence.

Carla isn’t one to back down which could mean she’ll soon come up with a plan to make Stephen pay for his actions.

And with Stephen becoming romantically involved with Jenny Connor, who was once married to Carla’s biological father Johnny, one could speculate the businesswoman will try and make the former pub landlady turn her back on Stephen.

Both women could join forces to take him down.

But how will it end?

Who will Stephen kill before his exit?

4. Death in the cobbles

Viewers are expecting a tragic outcome for Carla as she tries to take on Stephen Reid.

One user theorised that the Underworld factory owner could well be Stephen’s next and final victim.

The soap fan went a step further as they added Carla’s death could be a motive for her husband Peter Barlow to leave the cobbles.

Actor Chris Gascoyne is getting ready to leave the show after more than two decades in the cobbles.

It was recently confirmed that his on-screen alter ego won’t be killed off and the door for a potential return will be left open.

Could Peter leave Corrie out of heartbreak following his wife’s death?

“It’s kind of hard to imagine something else causing him to leave Carla especially after it comes out that she was drugged by her employee and made to think she was insane”, the viewer continued.

“What if before his exit Carla is the big character he gets to kill? To really cement his legacy.”

One could also suggest that Peter will be killing Stephen as payback for Carla’s murder, thus prompting him to flee the cobbles to avoid justice.

Could Aadi’s affair with Courtney end in tears for Dev?

5. Family targeted by scam artists

Aadi Alahan (Adam Hussain) became romantically involved with Courtney Vance (Stephanie Davis) who was unhappy in her marriage with businessman Darren.

But as the storyline continues after Aadi’s father Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) offered Courtney a whopping amount of money to leave the lad alone, one Reddit user came up with a theory of their own that could explain what the blonde bombshell and her husband are really up to.

There’s something very odd about the Aadi and Courtney storyline. One of the main things that stands out to me is that I can’t recall Courtney and Darren sharing one solitary scene together without someone else being present”, they wrote.

“Every time they have a confrontation it always seems a little staged. As though it’s put on for other people’s benefit.”

According to the soap fan, this could be a hint that the couple are trying to scam Dev.

“I don’t get how, but I wonder if the whole thing is some kind of elaborate long con, and Darren and Courtney were never romantically involved at all.”

“Could be brother and sister or something. Just something feels off about the storyline.”

Will they be proven right?
