He shared that he went to an auction in South Jersey to get the piece but almost did not end up buying the painting because the weather was so intense his dad wanted to leave.

The boy said: "It was so hot there. My dad didn't want to stay to get it, but I wanted to. So, we waited an hour or so.

"We got it for two bucks. Two bucks? I thought it was a watercolour, but we couldn't tell because of the glass."

The Antiques Roadshow expert took a look at the bottom of the painting, where he could see the artist's signature, and asked if the child knew who made the artwork.

He responded: "I only know Albert."

The expert then went to reveal the time period the historic painting was from, and the jaw-dropping value of the piece.

He said: "Albert Neuhaus. Neuhaus was one of the Dutch painters. He was born in 1844, and he died in 1914.

"And I think your watercolour was probably done in the last quarter of the 19th century.

"It could probably sell for between $1,000 and $1,500."

He congratulated the boy, adding: "That's a lot of money. Not bad for two bucks!

"So I think you've got a great career going as an art dealer. And if you keep at it."
