Channel 4 show pulled off screens next week in latest schedule shake-up – and replaced by iconic reality series

A CHANNEL 4 show will be pulled off screens next week and replaced by an iconic reality series in the latest schedule shake up.

It was announced earlier this month that Hollyoaks would be leaving its home on Channel 4 after 28 years.

The Cheshire-based soap will be moving to E4, which always offered a First Look at the next day's Channel 4 episode.

The switch will take place next Monday, September 25, and at the same time, The Simpsons will move from 6pm to 6.30pm, which is when Hollyoaks used to air.

As part of the swap, reality series Four in a Bed will air at 6pm before the popular American animated series.

After next week's schedule shake up was revealed on social media, one person wrote: "I don't like that why simpsons at 6:30, just makes life awkward."

Another added sarcastically: "I’m glad it’s been moved for fresh new shows."

A third commented: "Double Simpsons would have been lazy but double A Place in the Sun earlier in the day knocking Four in a Bed back an hour is even lazier."

As well as its move to E4, new Hollyoaks episodes will now become available to stream the day before they premiere on E4 and are also going to be available in full via YouTube the following week.

It means Hollyoaks, a soap more youth focused than its rivals, becomes the UK’s first streaming-led soap.

According to the latest figures for how Brits tune into the hit series, in 2023 64% of viewers watched the soap via streaming or E4, resulting in 556 million minutes of the show being streamed in the first half of the year.

However, the weekly omnibus will continue to be broadcast on Channel 4.
