Educating Yorkshire’s Mushy unrecognisable 11yrs after reducing viewers to tears on C4 show

EDUCATING Yorkshire star 'Mushy' is all grown up as he celebrated turning 27 and living his dream of working in media.
The former high school student stole the hearts of viewers on the Channel 4 over a decade ago.
Educating Yorkshire began in September 2013 following the everyday lives of staff and pupils at Thornhill Community Academy, in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire.
Nowadays Musharaf Asghar advocates for people with stammers and is often hired to speak at events to share his journey.
He wrote on X, formerly Twitter, today: "Today I turn 27 YEARS OLD.
"Which means 11 YEARS AGO I was on Educating Yorkshire. I am so fortunate to live life sharing the power of teachers.

"I am proud to be someone who stammers, something one teacher helped me to accept in the classroom.
"Thank you to everyone for the continuous support #EducatingYorlshire #PowerOfTeaching #ThankYou
His bio on the social media platform also lists his achievments as: "Proud Stammerer | Speaker | Journalist | Mushy off Educating Yorkshire | I make YouTube videos about stammering!"
Musharaf - known as Mushy - shot to fame when he stepped up in front of his classmates to overcome his stammer and deliver an assembly speech.

He went on to attend uni and graduated two years ago.
The TV star posted a picture of him standing proudly in his graduation robes.
He looked a far cry from the teenage boy the national feel in love with all those years ago.
Now sporting a beard, Mushy proudly posed for a picture in his graduation robes back in 2021.
He wrote next to his snap: "From sitting in the classroom and contemplating if life would ever accept me for having a stammer, to going to university and graduating.
"I can’t sum up in words how proud I am and how much my teachers’ changed my life.
"You can truly achieve anything you put your mind to!"
As well as graduating from uni, Mushy works as a public speaker and journalist.
He also has more than 12,000 subscribers on Youtube, where he regularly posts videos about living with a stammer.
After sharing his graduation pic, his followers sent messages of support.
One wrote: “I remember watching the programme where you were the star and crying happy tears.
"This post is wonderful. Congratulations you awesome young man.”
