Coronation Street’s Paul Foreman makes devastating decision after Shelly’s death
CORONATION Street’s Paul Foreman has made a devastating choice after the shock death of his friend Shelly.
The former builder - who is played by actor Peter Ash in the ITV soap - is suffering from motor neurone disease and has a limited time left to live.
In tonight’s episode he discovered his friend Shelly, who also suffered from the disease, had died from it.
He broke down in the Victoria Street gardens and was found by Todd Grimshaw where he revealed he made made the decision to end his own life.
“I knew it was expected but it’s still a massive shock,” he told Todd after composing himself.
“It’s focused my mind though, I’ll tell you that much. I’m dead lucky you know. Being with Billy and getting that one last shot at love.

“But no matter how I look at it - my days are numbered.”
He added: “MND took so much from Shelly. She didn’t even get to die on her own terms.
“That’s why I want to take control. I want to decide exactly how and when I go.”
“We’ve been through this,” said Todd.
“I thought you’d decided to drop it. It’s not the only option, assisted dying. There’s other medical support to help you live.
“I lied,” Paul replied.
“This is what I want, no doubt in my mind. You have to promise not to tell anyone. Promise.”
Viewers are absolutely heartbroken for Paul and his decision.
