In a recent interview with the Daily Star on Sunday newspaper, Daniel admitted he wanted to feature on the popular TV show.

The Irish singer and songwriter has pleaded with ITV bosses to allow him to become a new series character and flex and flaunt his acting skills.

During the Interview, the crooner said: "Going on Coronation Street is a pipe dream.

"I would take a cameo. I've always watched Coronation Street, and it is my favourite soap on the TV."

Daniel explained that in the past, he had met Charlie Lawson, who played Jim McDonald, and a few other cast members.

He continued: "I've met Charlie Lawson. I've met a few of the Coronation Street (cast), and I went a couple of times to the set in Manchester.

"I would take any role – as a singer or a cameo – it doesn't really matter to me."

American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan also joined the list of famous singers to have shared their love for the long-running, beloved soap as he revealed that he was a Corrie fan and had binged the entire show.

Series producer Iain MacLeod got wind of the news and was mind-blown but suggested that the musician could get involved through an open mic night at the Rovers Return onscreen.

In an interview with the Daily Telegraph last year, he told them: "To hear that Bob Dylan is a Coronation Street viewer blows my mind,"

"I would absolutely love the idea of him turning up in the Rover's Return one night.

"Maybe we could write in an open mic night, and a mysterious singer could roll in out of the Manchester rain and do a turn."

Coronation Street might just make it happen as viewers have seen musicians like The late Girls Aloud singer Sarah Harding, who played the role of Joni Preston, featuring in five episodes of the show in 2015.
