Only Connect host blasts her ‘least favourite question’ ever – you’re a genius if you can get it right
ONLY Connect host Victoria Coren-Mitchell blasts her all-time “least favourite question” as completely “ungettable” but a genius contestant put the pieces together.
A contestant on the BBC quiz show shocked Victoria after correctly answering a nightmare question she said nobody could get.
Over the years, Only Connect has built up a reputation for being one of the toughest quiz shows on British television. The show requires a high level of general knowledge and logic skills by challenging teams to make connections between four seemingly random clues. They also get points if they guess the answer correctly before all the clues have been revealed.
During an episode that originally aired in 2021, three contestants worked together to work out Victoria’s “ungettable” question, with the woman of the group eventually shouting out the right answer.
The trio were provided with three picture clues before they guessed the last one.
The first image showed 20 squares alongside a note, which explained one square was equal to 43.560 sq ft, while the second image showed the same thing but with 43 squares.

However, the square foot measurement was a ruse, as the tough clues were actually 20 acres and 43 acres.
The third picture was a piece of farming machinery, which they correctly identified as a combine harvester.
They then guessed the third picture was a key. But, before they could explain why that was the answer, Victoria said crossly: “This is my least favourite question in the whole series. I think it’s ungettable. I hate almost everything about it. I said nobody could get it.”
However, they explained that the clue was in fact a reference to The Wurzels’ song I’ve Got A Brand New Combine Harvester.

The chorus lyric goes: “I got 20 acres, and you got 43, now I got a brand new combine harvester and I’ll give you the key”.
So The Wurzels is the correct answer, as the thing connecting all four clues, meaning the team scored some points from the question.
However, Victoria said she was not happy with the “ungettable” question and addressed the audience, saying: “Here’s my problem … why would you look at that and it says square feet – why would you change it into acres?
“Even if you knew that weird machinery was a combine harvester from the song, how would you know that it goes ‘I’ll give you the key’?
“It doesn’t make any sense. It makes no sense,” she concluded.
