Coronation Street fans predict shock wedding for very unlikely coupling

CORONATION Street fans have predicted a shock wedding between a very unlikely couple.

The ITV soap has been accused by some viewers of neglecting its older cast members in recent months.

But one storyline that has featured some of the more mature characters has been between Evelyn Plummer and Roy Cropper.

The pair share a dog and Evelyn is a regular in Roy's Rolls, with Roy seemingly able to handle her no nonsense attitude better than most.

In recent weeks, Evelyn has had a tumultuous time after her drug addict daughter Cassie returned, and made herself known to son Tyrone, despite the fact Evelyn had told the mechanic his mum was dead.

Despite overdosing again, Tyrone has insisted on Cassie staying with him and his kids on Coronation Street, but Evelyn refused to stay under the same roof as Cassie.

She ended up moving into the flat Cassie had been staying in above the precinct, but complained about being cold.

It prompted Roy to suggest she come and stay with him above the cafe, while Lauren Bolton then took on the flat.

It hasn't been smooth sailing though, as Evelyn has been annoyed by Roy's hobby of listening to the shipping forecast early in the morning.

And in another scene, the pair ended up bickering after she bought the wrong potatoes - in Roy's opinion - for part of their evening meal.

Despite this, Corrie fans are hoping the pair will become more than friends and housemates.

Taking to social media, one wrote: "Evelyn and Roy need to happen soon."

Another added: "Evelyn and Roy are just right for each other, lol."

A third commented: "Roy & Evelyn will be announcing their intention to marry by Christmas #Corrie."

Meanwhile a fourth shared: "Evelyn and Roy bickering like an old married couple."
