Iconic nineties TV show returning for spin-off series 26 years after premiere – but there’s a twist
AN ICONIC nineties television show is set to return for a spin-off series, but with a dramatic twist.
Buffy: The Vampire Slayer took the world by storm when it made its debut back in 1997.
Fans were devastated when the iconic series came to an end in 2003 after seven instalments.
However, it seems that fans will once again be reunited with the Scooby Gang as the franchise makes a dramatic comeback.
has reported that the cast of the original series are set to reunite, however they will tell a new story.
Set 20 years after the series finale, Slayers: A Buffyverse Story will focus on James Marsters’ character Spike.

Although the character started off as one of Buffy's enemies, they later became allies and lovers.
The official description of the show reveals that Spike has gone deep undercover in Los Angeles as he tries to convince "the forces of darkness that he’s back to his evil ways.”
It reads: "But when his cover is compromised by 16-year-old Indira Nunnally (Hayes), Spike finds himself on baby-slayer-sitting duty once more.
"While he attempts to track down a watcher for his eager new protégé, their paths collide with the veteran Slayer of a parallel reality where Buffy Summers (Sarah Michelle Gellar) never existed and Cordelia Chase is the one-and-only Slayer.

"And Cordelia needs Spike’s help with a classic big bad terrorizing her world… his old flame, Drusilla."
The show will be available as a nine part audio only series that will make it's premiere on October 12 on Audible.
Commenting on the comeback of his character, Marsters gushed: "I'm ecstatic to be back with my dear friends for this next chapter in the Buffyverse, as we take listeners on a familiar but unexpected journey chock-full of horror, passion, and mischief.
"I'm excited for old and new fans to experience this beloved world of vampire slaying like never before, brought to life through immersive audio storytelling."
Charisma Carpenter, Anthony Head, Juliet Landau, Emma Caulfield, Amber Benson, , and Danny Strong will also all reprise their roles from the series.
