Ronan, 46, reunited with presenter Alex Jones on Wednesday’s episode of The One Show this week. The pair welcomed guests Clive Myrie and Mae Muller to join them on the green sofa.

His return to the BBC show comes just weeks after he lost his brother, Ciaran Keating. The father of three died in a car accident at Ballymiles, County Mayo in July. Ciaran had been driving to watch his son Ruairi, 28, play football for Cork City when the accident occurred.

After the funeral, the Irish singer and presenter took some time out in South Africa with his family to heal. They then headed to Aisa, with Ronan performing in Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, and Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, before returning to the UK.

Prior to leaving South Africa, Ronan shared a message with his fans.

He said: “Hey Everyone. Just wanted to say thank you for the love and respect you have shown my family over the last five weeks.

“It has been the hardest time for us all, and everyone is trying to manage a life now without our brother (very hard to even type that).

“Thank you for all your messages of support and also respecting our privacy during this time.

“There is no more fitting a place to heal than in South Africa surrounded by Mother Nature and great people and our little bundles of joy Cooper and Coco have kept us going constantly. Thank you god.

“Back to work for me in another part of the world I love now… it all seems rather difficult to make sense of, but trying my best,” he concluded.

Once he finished touring, Ronan headed back to familiar territory in London. Having been a regular host on The One Show since 2021 and a guest presenter for years prior, BBC fans were thrilled to see him return.

Celebrating the news on social media, one said, “Ronan! So missed!” while another fan added, “Nice to see you back, Ronan.”

A third gushed: “Fantastic show tonight so pleased to see Ronan Keating welcome back”

While a fourth said: “Great to see Ronan back on the green sofa tonight”

A fifth posted a heartfelt message to the star, saying: “Message to Ronan, it is good to see you back on the show, I hope all is well with you and your family after such a tragedy losing your dear brother Ciaran, never forget, he will always be the ‘key to your heart.’ Look after yourself and your family, Ro, from a devoted Ronan and mad Boyzone fan.”

“So glad Ronan is back, I’ve missed him on the show. He is, of course, my favourite music artist,” commented a sixth.

However, while many viewers celebrated Ronan’s return, some viewers also took a swipe at Capital Breakfast star Roman Kemp, who has been guest co-presenting the show since 2022, saying they’d rather have the Irish star on their screens.

One fan said: “Perfect to see Ronan, please no more Roman Kemp.”

“Good to see Ronan. Roman Kemp is boring and I cannot look at him,” commented another.

However, Roman, 30, has largely been well received by viewers, and at the end of August it was announced that he would become a regular presenter on the evening show.

“I’m very excited to become a permanent presenter on The One Show, I have had so much fun filming with the team already over the past year on the sofa,” he said at the time.
