Rumors swirling about NSYNC's reunion

Before Tuesday's award show, rumors were swirling that *NSYNC was getting back together.

The band hasn't released new music together in 20 years; Their final album, Celebrity, came out in 2001.

They officially announced their split in 2007, much to the chagrin of their loyal fanbase.

The band performed together in 2013 when Justin accepted an MTV VMA Video Vanguard Award.

They sang Girlfriend and Bye, Bye, Bye together.

*NSYNC also reunited in 2018 to celebrate their star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Buzz of a potential reunion between the five founding *NSYNC members coincided with the release of promotional materials for the latest film in the Trolls franchise, Trolls Band Together.

Justin is set to reprise his role as Branch in the film and it appears the film may feature a new song from the 90s boyband.

NSYNC left fans enraged

Justin Timberlake, Lance Bass, Chris Kirkpatrick, JC Chasez, and Joey Fatone reunited on stage early on in last night's show to present an award together.

Viewers were holding out hope that *NYSNC would step on stage again to either perform or share an exciting announcement.

When they didn't, enraged supporters of the beloved boyband took to X to share their thoughts.

One wrote: "Now I know why I boycotted @mtv years ago. This is a SCAM award [show]."

"When the nsync reunion is just them promoting the trolls movie and they don't end up doing a reunion tour," a second posted on X.

Renee Rapp makes VMA debut

Singer Renee Rapp took to the VMAs stage for the first time in her music career during last night's show.

Renee first garnered attention in 2018 after winning the prestigious Jimmy Award, but it was arguably her Broadway debut role in Mean Girls that put her on the map.

In June 2019, Rapp took to the Broadway stage to play the role of Regina George, which was made famous by Rachel McAdams in the 2004 film of the same name.

Additionally, she portrayed the role of Leighton Murray in the HBO Max comedy series The Sex Lives of College Girls.

In February 2023, the singer released her debut EP, Everything To Everyone, which was followed by her debut album, Snow Angel, in August 2023.

Best New Artist announced

Ice Spice was voted MTV's Best New Artist this year.

Isis Gaston, also known as Ice Spice, was born on January 1, 2020, in The Bronx, New York.

The 23-year-old quickly rose to fame after releasing her hit single Munch (Feelin' U) in August 2022.

Host Nicki Minaj took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to tell her fans to use the hashtag for last night's show.

During her performance at the show, the rapper surprised the audience by giving a sneak peek at a song on her new sequel album, Pink Friday 2, which is coming in November.

Shakira's major career update

On September 7, Shakira shared a sexy video promoting her new career away from music.

She announced her newest perfume titled ROJO - which translates to red in English.

In the clip, the singer wore an all-red ensemble while the bottle of her perfume was also on display.

During last night's show, Shakira gave an amazing medley performance before accepting the MTV Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.

The award was first given out in 1984 and pays tribute to artists who have made a positive impact with their music.

The highly prestigious award was given to several A-list singers in the past including Beyonce, Kanye West, The Beatles, Madonna, Britney Spears, and Rihanna.

Shakira is the first South American recipient of the huge honor.

Shakira brought her sons to the show

While walking the red carpet of the event, Shakira, 46, brought her two sons, Milan and Sasha, to celebrate her big achievement of the Video Vanguard Award.

The two boys wore matching Versace gold and black jumpsuits and showed off their pearly whites while hugging their mom.

In some solo shots, the Hips Don't Lie singer flaunted her fit figure in a sparkling gold gown.

Her spaghetti-strap dress showed off her entire backside and had a dangerously low neckline that allowed fans a glimpse at her ample cleavage.

Selena Gomez hit the MTV VMAs red carpet, flaunting her figure in a lacy red gown that was custom-made for her.

The dress gave the appearance of being see-through under the red bits and featured a slit up the side.

Her long dark hair was down in a straight style, hanging down her back.

She had subtle glam makeup on and a large pair of earrings that looked like flower petals.

Fans appreciated the look, gushing over it on social media as one wrote: "Selena Gomez looks beautiful."

Selena made surprise appearance

Selena Gomez had not previously publicly confirmed that she would be attending this year's MTV VMAs, despite being nominated for several awards at the show this year - so it was a surprise when the singer made an appearance at the awards ceremony.

She was nominated for Song of the Year, Collaboration of the Year, and the Best Afrobeats VMA Awards.

Alongside Nigerian artist Rema, Selena took home the VMA for Best Afrobeats for their song Calm Down.

This is Selena's 10th Video Music Award.

During Olivia's performance, the singer was surrounded by flying sparks and pieces of the stage crashing down - which happens in the song's music video.

Saweetie went off-script in major blunder

Saweetie, 30, presented alongside Dometi Pongo on the red carpet.

At one point, early on in the night, the Best Friend singer was seen posing in her bright pink dress, which featured two large bones.

She was playing with her long ponytail, pulling it off to one side while Dometi chatted with her.

"How you doing?" he asked, to which she casually replied: "I'm good, how you doing?"

The pair had a brief dialogue before an awkwardly long pause as both stared directly into the camera.

Suddenly, Saweetie appeared to realize she was meant to be talking, jumping right back into the script.

"Oh," she exclaimed. "I am so excited for tonight too and I can't wait to see the fashion and some of my friends."

Doja Cat rocked the red carpet

Doja Cat, 27, posed for photos in front of an MTV VMAs step-and-repeat wearing an outfit made of shredded white material.

Her breasts were completely exposed in the outfit, as were her nude-colored underwear.

The gown stretched all the way to the floor, though it barely covered any of her body.

Her curves and long legs were on full display as she gave photographers various angles.

Taylor took home four VMAs

Taylor Swift left the 2023 MTV VMAs with four wins: Best Pop, Song of the Year, Best Direction, and Video of the Year.

“This is unbelievable,” the star said as she accepted the Video of the Year Award.

";I just want to say that the fact that this is a fan-voted award means so much to me."

Where is Run?

An energetic performance featuring Nicki Minaj, LL Cool J, and Lil Wayne celebrated 50 years of Hip-Hop with a medley.

But fans are taking to social media to question where iconic DJ Rev Run is in the performance as DMC performed their songs together.

"Where the heck is Run???" one fan wrote on X.
