Having previously been adapted into TV show, film, video game, and comic book formats, this Disney+ series marks a huge step forward for the franchise.

“R. L. Stine’s Goosebumps franchise is a pop culture phenomenon that holds a special place in the hearts of people of all ages,” said Ayo Davis, president, Disney Branded Television.

“We are delighted to bring this spooky new series to audiences everywhere in a big way on Disney+ and Hulu, which we hope will not only captivate new audiences with its elevated thrills and chills, but also lifelong fans nostalgic for the stories that are a staple of their generation.”

Coming as part of Disney+’s Hallowstream event, Goosebumps will premiere on the spookiest day of the year – Friday, 13 October.

The 10-part series will drop its first five episodes on that Friday, with the remaining five airing weekly.

According to the show’s official synopsis Goosebumps “follows a group of five high schoolers as they embark on a shadowy and twisted journey to investigate the tragic passing three decades earlier of a teen named Harold Biddle — while also unearthing dark secrets from their parents’ past.”

“Goosebumps” stars familiar faces like EastEnders star Zach Morris as Isaiah, Gossip Girl’s Ana Yi Puig as Isabella, and Lucifer alum Rachael Harris as Nora.

The trio are also joined by Justin Long (Barbarian) as Nathan Bratt, Isa Briones (Star Trek: Picard) as Margot, Miles McKenna (Guilty Party) as James, and Will Price (The Equalizer) as Jeff.

The chilling new series takes inspiration directly from the books, drawing directly on elements from five of the most popular texts; “Say Cheese and Die!,” “The Haunted Mask,” “The Cuckoo Clock of Doom,” “Go Eat Worms!” and “Night of the Living Dummy.”
