Kate, 56, and Ben, 48, are close pals on and off-set, which often sparks hilarious banter on the breakfast show.

Thursday's episode was no exception, with the pair discussing Jemma Redgrave, 58.

The actress played Kate Stewart in a host of Doctor Who episodes and will soon star in a spin-off for the Time Lord series.

GMB favourite Kate was discussing Jemma's upcoming roles and stated she would be playing an "octopus on-stage," claiming she was "very intrigued to see that."

Struggling to muffle his giggles, Ben clarified the star would in fact be playing a scientist who looked after the sea creature - rather than the eight-legged octopus itself.

Kate admitted she had been concerned about the concept since the team's morning meeting, leading Ben to admit: "It's only my first day back as well.

"How has anyone coped?" to which Kate joked: "They are all in therapy!"

Ben then added: "I need a lie down!"

After the segment wrapped, Kate admitted she was "slightly embarrassed about the octopus error."

The blunder came just days after Kate spoke exclusively to The Sun at the NTAs about sick husband Derek Draper.

Derek, 56, was left fighting for his life after suffering Covid.

The ex-political lobbyist is one of the UK's longest suffering patients of Covid and has since been battling a variety of health problems, after the virus caused brain inflammation, kidney failure, and damage to his liver and pancreas.

Kate opened up on Derek's progress - saying "we keep ploughing on."

Kate exclusively told The Sun: “He's doing alright. There’s been no dramatic progress I’m afraid but we keep ploughing on.

"Derek and the kids are all watching at home but we’ve got it on record too to watch together.

"I’m just glad I didn’t fall over.”

Meanwhile, on a recent GMB episode, Kate told how Derek had been stuck "in no mans land" in a terrifying airport error.
