Neighbours favourite Ryan Moloney warns of ‘shocking’ twist for Toadfish ‘Toadie’ Rebecchi
NEIGHBOURS favourite Ryan Moloney has teased a big twist for his beloved character Toadfish ‘Toadie’ Rebecchi.
Ryan, 43, was at the centre of the soap’s big finale, which ended its time on Channel 5 in July 2022.
Viewers watched as Toadie, who first arrived in the street in 1995, got his happy ending with Melanie, played by Lucinda Cowden, with the loved-up couple tying the knot in front of their Neighbours.
After more than two decades of storylines, which saw wife Dee go missing on their honeymoon, his second wife Sonya tragically die from cancer, and Dee come back from the dead, it was a fitting tribute to his much-loved character that Toadie’s wedding was at the heart of that final episode.
Bosses have already confirmed that there is a two year time jump when the show returns, with a flashback episode airing a few weeks down the line, which will explain what happened to some of the soap’s biggest characters during their time off our television screens.
Ryan was keeping tight-lipped about the exact details of his big comeback storyline but admitted he’s very much looking forward to the viewers reaction, and expects them to be shocked.

He said: “It’s slightly exciting that it hasn’t aired yet.
“There’s a big twist, and I think it’s really good and clever. I think the shock value of it is really good as well, when they told us, it was kind of ‘Oh ok, alright then’ I kind of figured if you called me in for a meeting there’s going to be something you’re going to throw at me.
“I think we’ve done a fantastic job and I said to them if we get the cast and crew saying ‘Oh, at first I was like is this going to work? but now I actually like it better’ if we can get people saying that then job done.
“It’s about doing a really good job and taking the audience on this ride. We want that shock reaction from the audience.”
