Phillip Schofield axed as face of The Cube visitor attraction amid ITV investigation

PHILLIP Schofield has been dealt another major blow after being axed as the face of The Cube visitor attraction in Manchester amid ITV's investigation.

The veteran broadcaster, 61, was axed by ITV in May after admitting to having an "unwise but no illegal" affair with a much younger male colleague.

Phil - who hosted the game show from the first episode in 2009 to 2021 – previously appeared in a welcome video, explaining to visitors how the attraction worked.

Given that he was the host of the programme, Phil was given a key part in the experience, which opened in February last year.

However bosses at The Cube Live chose to remove him in the wake of his scandal.

He has now been replaced by Colin McFarlane, who did voiceovers on the show.

"Phillip has been completely erased," an insider told the Daily Star.

"Bosses at The Cube Live don’t want to be associated with him in the light of recent events."

The Cube Live is part of the huge Urban Playground entertainment complex in Manchester.

To play, teams of up to four will work through the tasks which are inside the perspex boxes, just like in the show.

Phil would greet guests from a video screen while entering.

Guests will have to work by themselves or as a team to solve seven games to get to the end.

Last week it was revealed that Phillip's former best pal Holly Willoughby is complying with an independent investigation into his affair scandal.

A representative for Holly said she is doing everything asked of her by Jane Mulcahy KC.

Holly, 42, is one of a number of people from This Morning who are helping the KC with her investigation.

ITV's managing director Kevin Lygo said at the Edinburgh TV Festival this week: "She [Mulcahy] has been talking to everybody involved, they take your phone and look at every single text you've ever sent, email, WhatsApp.

"So, everything is available, lots of interviews, talking to everybody and I hope as soon as possible, but probably in September, she will make that public."

Discussing how ITV handles its duty of care, he added: "We do, trust me, take it incredibly seriously."
