Doctors told him he only had six months to live when they discovered lung cancer two-and-a-half years ago, which has since spread to his brain.

But he’s not let it stop him from getting out and about, and he appeared at the First Time Buyer Magazine Awards on Friday with Nicki by his side.

Jonnie was pictured on a red carpet in a black suit and beige trousers, as he stood next to his former Escape to the Country colleague.

Nicki, 56, looked dazzling in a silver floor length gown and heels as she wrapped her arm around Jonnie for the photo.

And the evening saw TV presenter Jonnie honour SO Resi Education, with the Jonnie Irwin Legacy Award.

Speaking about the special night, the 49-year-old said: “Congratulations to all the winners at the @firsttimebuyermag Awards yesterday there was some very impressive winners and runners up.

“We also raised an incredible amount of money for our nominated charity @stoswaldsuk with a couple of super generous individual bids- you know who you are and thank you so much.”

The award was given for SO Resi Education’s work in teaching first time buyers how to get on the property ladder.

Nicki replied beneath Jonnie’s post, writing: “We all know how tough that can be –-especially at the moment. Lovely to catch up Jonnie – big hugs to all the fam too."

Jonnie’s most recent health update with fans came towards the end of August, as he revealed he had CT and MRI scans to monitor the illness.

However, he shared how the screening took place outside of hospital in a remote portable scanner.

Posting on Instagram, he said: "I got some scans today. Not in a hospital but in a leisure centre car park. MRI and CT unit. In this, surprisingly.

"I actually had a great experience. We were able to park almost on the doorstep, no queue and done n dusted in under 15 minutes. Well done #nhs."

Fans flooded his comments with praise as they wished the TV presenter well.

One wrote: "Looking really well Irwin! See you all soon."

A second said: "You are doing amazing Good luck with the MRI and CT scans."

Jonnie, who was axed by Channel 4’s A Place in the Sun after producers were made aware of his illness, shared his daily struggles in a new podcast.

“I have been close to death's door, twice at least.”

Doctors told him he only had six months to live when they discovered lung cancer two-and-a-half years ago.

He defied those predictions, despite the fatal condition spreading to his brain.

In a new podcast titled OneChat, Jonnie explained: “I am living with cancer rather than dying from cancer.”
