However in a new interview, Anita, 45, has opened up on her brutal morning routine.

The BBC personality has revealed that she often wakes up in the early hours due to the demands of her radio show.

"If I'm presenting Woman's Hour, which broadcasts from 10am, or I want to get some uninterrupted writing done, I'll get up at 5am," Anita admitted.

"As I'm getting into gear, my husband is fast asleep, probably thinking, 'Leave it to the nutter.'

"Before I do anything else I have a cup of hot water, which feels like a soothing way to hydrate."

The former This Morning relief presenter also admits that she likes early-morning exercise classes to get her day started to music with big name stars.

She revealed: "I'll follow it with a tea chaser, before doing a kickboxing class, which is mentally energising, or a run around nearby Hackney Marshes, soundtracked by Madonna, Belinda Carlisle and Cyndi Lauper."

"Breakfast will be eggs. I do most of the planning for Woman's Hour the day before, so once I get to the studio at 6.30am, I'll go through the papers, have a production meeting, write my intro and then it's all systems go."

When I first started I had serious imposter syndrome and my nerves were always jangling the night before, but now I've found my groove and feel like I very much deserve to be there.

However, she revealed more personal details to the outlet, where admitted first novel, Baby Does a Runner, made her more openly about her previous heartbreak.

"It's funny - I hope - and it's about a British Asian woman discovering her true identity and dealing with the cultural pressure to be married and have children at a certain age," she explained.

"Writing, and being in my mid-forties, have made me reappraise things in my life.

"I'm much better at self-care and I ask myself more questions about how I want to live my life."

Anita added: "I'm also more willing to be vulnerable, like talking about the miscarriage I had in 2018.

"Vulnerability used to scare the s*** out of me, but it has been liberating to share my personal story and see the response."

The host also admitted that she is 'addicted' to social media and she says that sometimes she finds the online platforms "exhausting."

Anita admitted: "I'm known on set as a bit of a social media addict.

"I look like Dom Joly walking around with my phone in the air trying to find a signal. I'm very much an Instagram girl. I find Twitter exhausting."

She admitted: "If I come across someone being racist or misogynistic, that triggers me.

"I'll retweet their offensive tweet and watch the army of good people pile in on my behalf."
