Katie, who reached the finals of The X Factor in 2010, made a cameo in two episodes of the American fly-on-the-wall show back in 2015.

She appeared as the office manager at a tattoo removal company.

And in another scene, she attended cast member Scheana Shay's 30th birthday party where she was introduced as fellow star Kristen Doute's friend.

While Vanderpump Rules was a moderate hit at the time, it has since become a pop culture phenomenon thanks to the Scandoval affair which gripped America.

The show is a spin-off of The Real Houswives of Beverly Hills and follows the antics of the staff at various bars and restaurants owned by Lisa Vanderpump.

One fan who was streaming old episodes of the show took to twitter to announce their surprise at seeing her on the Bravo show, which streams on Hayu in the UK.

They wrote: "sorry what the f*** is katie waissel from x factor doing working as office manager in the tattoo removal place in this ep of vanderpump rules????"

Katie moved to LA in 2013 and had a shortlived marriage to model Brad Alphonso.

They wed after knowing each other for just four months and divorced after just two months of marriage.

Katie then moved back to the UK, starring on Celebrity Big Brother in 2016.

She became a mum to her son Hudson two years later.

Katie has been an outspoken critic of her time on The X Factor after being branded the "most hated contestant".

She has since sought therapy for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) after suffering panic attacks and suicidal thoughts.

The mum-of-one, who has retrained as a lawyer, said she is taking legal action against Simon's record company Syco Entertainment for breach of duty of care.

"I am pursuing a civil case of personal injury under negligence, which pertains to duty of care," she told the .

Katie continued: "The show ruined my life."
