A CONTESTANT on Alone was forced to leave just hours after being abandoned in the wilderness after plunging an axe into his leg.
Channel 4's brutal new survival series sees 11 members of the public take on the ultimate test of survival in the Canadian wilderness on the fringes of the Arctic Circle.
The last person standing wins a whopping £100,000, but sadly contestant Mike, 49, barely had chance to get his bid for the cash off the ground.
During the show, he revealed he used to be a heroin addict but had turned his life around, and hoped being on the show was the start of a new chapter.
But sadly, just four hours after being dropped into the wilderness, Mike was forced to leave the show, after accidentally slicing into his leg with an axe.
Mike had been attempting to build his shelter when he sustained the horror injury, and using the camera he had been provided with to film his journey, he showed viewers the gory wound on his leg.
He said: "I can’t f***ing believe it. I’ve f***ing nailed myself. F***ing hell man, it’s bleeding now.
"F***ing hit the side of my leg with an axe and I know it needs stitches. Absolutely gutted."
He was forced to use the satellite phone each contestant had been provided with in case of an emergency, and the helicopter returned to pick him up.
As he was flown away, a tearful Mike said: "Absolutely devastated. I’ve worked with tools all my life.
"This was going to be the start of something different, and it’s all collapsed. Didn’t even get a chance."
Meanwhile, fellow contestant Naomi was left terrified when a bear came within inches of her shelter during her first night in the wilderness.
Alone continues on Sunday, August 13 at 9pm on Channel 4.
