Maisie Smith makes brave admission as she auditions for new role

MAISIE Smith has candidly admitted her fear of "terrifying" acting auditions despite nearly two decades in the telly industry.

The former EastEnders actress, 22, joined the BBC One soap back in 2008.

In scenes aired in December 2021, her character Tiffany Butcher left Walford to go and live with her brother Liam in Germany.

Maisie then used her soap profile to spring into a spot on Strictly Come Dancing alongside professional partner Gorka Márquez.

Yet now it appears she is ready to get back into acting - and still suffers stage fright.

Maisie took to her Instagram Stories to post a selfie showing her wearing a yellow hoodie, jeans and boots.

She tied her hair back and pulled on a huge pair of earphones as she stood in an empty wood-floor studio.

Maisie explained in her caption: "In person audition, been a while."

Yet in her second slide she gave an update, alongside a snap showing her boots on the pavement.

She wrote in her caption: "Well that was terrifying.

"18 years in the industry and auditions STILL make me s**t my pants."

It is unclear what role Maisie was auditioning for, yet her fans will be rooting for her to get it.

Meanwhile, following her EastEnders exit, all loose ends were tied for her character Tiffany following her last episode.

The episode ended with Tiffany breaking things off with her partner Aaron Monroe after a rocky few weeks, determined to get away from the businessman after he got aggressive with her.

Although she has been said to leave the programme for good, Maisie previously gave hope to fans during The One Show saying she will "definitely come back."

"It was sad to leave everyone", she told Lauren Laverne.

When asked about her return, she added: "You never really leave EastEnders."

"They will always find a way to bring you back and I will definitely come back."

Tiffany's departure from the show had been reported for months before Maisie decided to speak up in October, 2021.

In 2009, Smith was awarded Best Dramatic Performance from a Young Actor or Actress at The British Soap Awards.
