Emmerdale brings back legendary star after 24 years – but with a major twist
EMMERDALE has brought back a former star who left the soap over two decades ago - but there's a twist.
Soap legend Robert Beck is staging a comeback to Emmerdale after 24 years - but in a brand new role.
The actor was previously starred on the ITV soap as heartthrob Gavin Ferris in 1999.
He was a former flame of Bernice Blackstock who bought into the Woolpack.
Gavin was famously caught out kissing Jason Kirk by Bernice and Tricia Stokes, which led to his split with Bernice, and he departed the village soon afterwards.
However, Robert will not be returning to Emmerdale as Gavin.

Instead he will be playing a brand new character.
In scenes to air next week, he will portray Harry, who is a dangerous gangster and an acquaintance of Corey Brent, who goes into business with Cain Dingle.
Nate Robinson, who is worried sick about his finances after Moira cut his hours at the farm, recognises Corey from school and, feeling like a failure in the shadow of his former classmate’s success, asks him for a job.
Corey says he can’t help but Nate confronts him once more to ask for work, finding his old friend in the company of none other than Caleb Miligan, who is the silent investor in the whole thing.

Caleb ultimately offers Nate work in return for his silence and things take a dark turn next week.
Corey explains to eager Nate that there are opportunities to make extra cash on the side.
Nate is more than happy to sign up for whatever these tasks may entail, with subsequent scenes seeing him meet with client Harry.
Harry is incredibly impressed with Nate, who returns with a big tip, happy to inform Corey that Caleb doesn’t have to know what they’re up to.
Nate discovers that Corey’s deal with Harry isn’t exactly legitimate when he’s tasked with a dodgy job with him.
Will Nate go through with the dodgy dealings?
Robert, who is married to Jane Danson, is very well-known in the soap world as he appeared in Coronation Street, Brookside and more recently in Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks, playing gangster Fergus Collins.
Fergus was killed off by his on-screen partner Trish Minniver (Denise Welch), who came to the defence of daughter Maxine (Nikki Sanderson), whose life was in danger.
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
