Why did Henry Cavill leave The Witcher?
Season three of the fantasy drama is halfway through its run on Netflix.
Henry Cavill, who plays Geralt of Rivia, has left the show and his final scenes in the role will air in July 2023.
The actor stuck around for the whole three seasons of The Witcher before officially announcing his departure on October 29, 2022.
Amid wrapping up filming for the upcoming season - Cavill took to Instagram to announce his official departure from the show.
He captioned the post: "Some news to share from The Continent…
"My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures, and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for Season 4."
Who is replacing Henry Cavill in The Witcher?
The Superman actor is being replaced by Hollywood star Liam Hemsworth.
Season four of The Witcher will see Hemsworth officially step in as the titular monster-hunter.

The 33-year-old used his own social media post to respond to the news.
He wrote: "As a Witcher fan I’m over the moon about the opportunity to play Geralt of Rivia.
"Henry Cavill has been an incredible Geralt, and I’m honoured that he’s handing me the reins and allowing me to take up the White Wolf’s blades for the next chapter of his adventure."
He ended the post by expressing how much of a fan he is of Cavill and that he expects to have "some big boots to fill" with the new role.
What is The Witcher about?
The main character, Geralt of Rivia, is a mutated monster-hunter for hire.
He journeys toward his destiny in a turbulent world where people often prove more wicked than beasts.
The hit show is set on a fictional, medieval-inspired landmass known as the Continent.
The fantasy drama is based on the book series of the same name by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski.
An animated origin story film, The Witcher: Nightmare Of The Wolf, was released on August 23, 2021.
While a prequel miniseries, The Witcher: Blood Origin, was released on December 25, 2022.
When does season 3 of The Witcher premiere?
While season 3 volume 1 of The Witcher premiered on June 29, 2023, fans have been patiently waiting for the second volume to arrive.
