EARTH episode two of the five-part series broadcast last night, and the host's fashion choices seemed to leave many viewers stunned.

Chris Packham has been dubbed the "next David Attenborough" by some fans of the BBC series, but the star appeared not to have borrowed anything from David's wardrobe with his more colourful outfits being a talking point online.

Episode two of Earth, Snowball, had the television presenter going back in time to explore how the giant supercontinent Rodinia broke up 800 million years ago.

He discussed how the Earth's tectonic forces ripped the land apart, unpacking how it kick-started events that sent temperatures plummeting and how the deep freeze started with fire.

With cinematic shots of Chris walking vast spans of ice the star wore a variety of bright yellow outfits.

Chris donned a collection of bright outfits ranging from a simple yellow shirt and khaki trousers to a yellow puffer jacket and fleece to his most talked about outfit of a yellow waterproof jacket and fishing hat.

"Chris Packham dons a Prada bucket hat #Earth.";

A loyal fan was not put off by his bright ensemble and said: "Used to worry who could possibly replace #DavidAttenborough on TV, and then I watched #chrispackham deliver the series on #Earth and found a #worthy #successor."

"Earth on BBC with Chris Packham is the best thing you can watch at the moment," another commented.

During the hour-long episode, he took viewers back in time as well as covering hard-hitting concerns of global warming while he explored different mountain ranges across the globe.

Earth continues on BBC Two on Monday, or is available to stream.
