Jon Kay is worlds away from BBC Breakfast in rare holiday pics after two weeks away from show

BBC BREAKFAST host Jon Kay was worlds away from his usual broadcasting attire in a rare holiday picture he posted from France.

The 53-year-old telly star took two weeks off the show to enjoy some time abroad with his family.

Before returning to the red sofa this morning, he posted one snap of himself in sunny Corsica.

He was spotted sporting a colourful blue and yellow Hawaiian shirt covered with floral patterns in the photo.

Jon looked relaxed as he grinned at the camera on a bright day.

In the background behind him waves can be faintly seen cresting on the beach.

He added a sticker of the sun to his Instagram story, and captioned the photo: "Saturday".

The journalist was replaced by Beeb presenter Ben Thompson during his summer break.

Sally Nugent jokingly addressed his time away as they played a clip from Wimbledon that saw spectators being asked not to open champagne during part of a game.

"You know what I think that might have been our Jon Kay, who has just started his holidays," she quipped.

He returned to the breakfast show today after weeks off screen - but co-host Sally Nugent stole the show.

She colour co-ordinated her outfit with Jon's, wearing a short navy dress, and fans flocked to Twitter to compliment her.
