“With some of the offers, I’ve said, ‘Are you f***ing serious?’

"I was asked to do a show for Irish TV where I’d get SAS-style training. You crawl through mud and stuff like that.

“I said, ‘You do know I’m fing 67? The last time I crawled through mud I was five years old. So f off!’"

He added to : “I was once talking to a producer and he asked me if I’d thought about doing I’m A Celebrity and I said, ‘I would rather put a hot needle through the eye of my c**k than do that show’. So now they know not to ask!”

Celebrities can be expected to make anything from £30,000 to £600,000 for their time on I'm A Celeb, depending on how famous and well-known they are.

The line-up for 2022 was the wealthiest yet with a combined fortune of over £76million.

The celebrities get paid a flat fee for appearing on the show and don't receive more for avoiding elimination for longer – even if they win the whole thing.

It comes as The Sun revealed Mrs Brown's Boys is set to make a bombshell return with the first new series in ten years.

The hit comedy will return after ten years with a fourth mini-series.

Brendan, who created the sitcom and who will return in his long-running role of Agnes Brown, admitted his plans for the show have been postponed multiple times.

He said: "This mini-series was actually planned for 2021.

"Having been thwarted twice, firstly by Covid-19 and then by a post Covid shortage of studios, it’s fantastic to, at last, have the chance to make it happen."
