BBC's Call The Midwife bosses are "thrilled" as a "much-loved" character returns for series 13 in emotional scenes.

The hit BBC series is in the middle of filming its next season, and in a new post on the official Call The Midwife Instagram page, bosses revealed adorable toddler Nate Court will be back.

Longtime fans of the show will know that Nate played baby Robert Dellow in the emotional series 10 finale and now he's back in Poplar once again.

The sweet snap saw Nate in the arms of actor Daniel Laurie, who plays Reggie Jackson.

The caption read: "Awww! Daniel Laurie and Nate Court reunite on set for our latest Call the Midwife filming!

"This GORGEOUS shot comes hot from the set of Call the Midwife series 13, where we have been delighted to welcome back a familiar guest to Nonnatus House – the beautiful young Nate Court!

“Nate was one our most memorable new babies when he played Robert Dellow in the deeply moving finale episode of series 10.

"The Dellow family were struggling to adjust to Robert being diagnosed with Down’s Syndrome – but Reggie’s love for Robert helped ease their fears xxx."

The post continued: "Nate is a much-loved member of our Call the Midwife family, so we were just thrilled when he was able to return for a brief cameo appearance in Series 13 as a toddler!

"But the best moment of all was when he and our own Daniel Laurie, who plays Reggie, met up again – as these lovely pictures show!"

The caption concluded: "We won't tell you how or why Nate was there – no spoilers! – but we can’t wait to show you the end results."

Fans were quick to comment, with one writing: "I literally only rewatched the episode of baby Robert being born yesterday! Will be lovely to see him. He was such a precious baby xx."

Another added: "Love Love Love Reggie's character. And my,my, this darling baby has cheeks made for kisses. He's such a sweetheart."

A third commented: "Can’t wait to see Nate on tele again!"

Call The Midwife will return for a Christmas Special with series 13 following in early 2024.
