1. Another paternity twist

After her explosive affair with Damon Hay almost cost her her marriage, Sarah Platt (played by Tina O'Brien) dropped a bombshell on her husband Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson).

The Underworld PA revealed she was pregnant but had no idea who the father of her baby could be.

Adam was overcome with anxiety and suffered several panic attacks in recent scenes of the ITV soap as he was worried Damon could be the father of Sarah's baby.

The solicitor was also concerned he could be cornered by the authorities as he hatched a devious plan to get rid of Damon, which could have killed him as a result.

Aware her husband was crumbling under pressure after the paternity test, Sarah decided to tell him he was the father after all - but she insisted she'd been told the results over the phone.

Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) was surprised to hear from Adam he had received no letter confirming the paternity and in upcoming scenes of the Manchester-based drama, Sarah's secret unravels.

It all begins when Gail Platt (Helen Worth) helps her pick up Stephen Reid’s things from the flat and Sarah notices her paternity test results!

In later scenes, Sarah goes to another scan appointment and the sonographer confirms that the baby is healthy before suggesting a blood test to find out the sex.

When she offers a test for genetic diseases, both Gail and Adam assure her there are no genetic illnesses in their families but Adam clocks Sarah’s unease.

Adam suffers another panic attack when Daniel asks him about the scan, confiding in Daniel that he clocked Sarah’s discomfort and still doesn’t trust her.

He later tells Sarah that he needs to know for sure that he’s the father and has asked the clinic to send written confirmation.

Sarah then heads home to face the music where she finds Adam clutching the letter and steals herself as he rips it open.

Adam is due to find out he's the father of Sarah's baby.

But with tests being planned to spot any genetic diseases the unborn baby could suffer from, one could speculate the results may throw a spanner in the works.

Could it be a way to find out that Damon Hay is actually the father of the child?

Could he make a return despite being on the run from thug Niall?

2. New murder victim in sight

Another member of the Platt clan is in a tough situation, as mentioned above.

Serial killer Stephen Reid played by Todd Boyce was recently confronted by Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) and was hurt during their struggle.

As a result, the Weatherfield cabbie could be thrown behind bars for GBH.

But after figuring out Stephen tried to take advantage of his mother Elaine Jones (Paula Wilcox), Tim doesn't hold back.

Stephen is thrown out of his Redbank Appartment as Tim chucks his belongings out of the window.

His sister Gail and niece Sarah Platt witness his predicament and try to help him collect his things.

In later scenes, Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls) suspects that Tim was the one to throw Stephen out and she asks him to double check with Elaine if that was even her own intention.

But Stephen may stay away from Tim following their fight to maintain his innocence, particularly as Elaine turns her sights to another man.

Elaine decides to move on and her Tai-Chi instructor Gerry Northrop (Graham Turner) makes a move on her.

But when Gerry invites her for a drink in scenes due to air next week, Elaine is flattered but asserts it’s too soon for her to get back on the horse.

Could Stephen try and get rid of Gerry to get back in Elaine's good graces?

3. Couple headed to the aisle

Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) makes a shocking request to Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) this week.

Paul was diagnosed with motor neurone disease (MND) earlier this year after being crashed into by Carla Connor.

Since then, the beloved character has tried to adapt to his new life as he found out he may only have up to three years to live - but the diagnosis hasn't been easy to accept.

His partner Billy was kept in the dark before eventually finding out the truth and he's been trying to support Paul as much as he can.

This week, while waiting for his appointment at the MND clinic, Paul finds himself sitting next to Shelly from the support group.

Paul is impressed by her positive attitude as Shelly urges him to take control - if there’s something he’s always dreamt of doing, he'll have to go through with it while he still can.

In later scenes, he tells Billy how Shelly’s helped him to see things more clearly and he has something important to ask him.

As Billy excitedly tells Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) he’s expecting a marriage proposal, his bubble is quickly burst by Paul.

The builder steals himself before telling Billy that when the time comes, he’d like him to help him end his life.

A handful of viewers have theorised that Billy could agree to Paul's request... before making a request of his own.
