Future of HUGE BBC gameshow revealed after 16 series

But the host has now updated viewers on when a new series can be expected.

He told the How to Wow podcast: “Are we having any more seasons of Would I Lie To You?

“Well, I'm awfully sorry to tell you this in front of a b**dy crowd, yes we are!

“Yeah we've already recorded one that will go out later this year, one series, and I think we're booked to do another series next year."

Lee Mack and David Mitchell have posed as team captains since the off, but Rob joined as host in series three.

He appeared as a guest panellist during the second series - when Angus Deayton was host - and so impressed bosses they signed him up to take the reins.

For each show, two celebrity guests join each of the team captains.

The teams compete as each player reveals unusual facts and embarrassing personal tales for the evaluation of the opposing team.

Some of these are true, some are not, and it is the panellists' task to decide which is which.

Over the years, Would I Lie To You’s guestlist reads like a Who’s Who of UK comedy greats.

Bob Mortimer has appeared 11 times and Jo Brand and Richard Osman, 10.

Claudia Winkleman is another fan, having graced the panel eight times.
