BRITNEY'S BACK
This isn't the first fans have heard of the musical comeback for Britney in recent weeks.
The U.S. Sun first reported on July 8 that the Louisiana native was teaming up with the rapper.
As noted at the time, the song will be Britney's first musical release since she won the legal battle to be released from her father's conservatorship.
Jamie Spears had control of Britney's personal affairs for 13 years.
She appeared on Sir Elton John's Tiny Dancer remix in 2022 which was pre-recorded- but has not released any new music since 2020.
The latest duet comes a decade after she and Will had a No1 with their wildly popular single Scream & Shout.
A source said: “Britney and Will have a huge amount of love and respect for each other and really trust each other’s musical judgment.
“Will has long been Britney’s No1 supporter and he wants to see her succeed.
“Both of them are excited to be releasing this surprise track and they know fans will love it.”
Will, a judge on TV talent show The Voice, hinted at a collab with Britney last month on Good Morning Britain, saying: “We’ve done cool things together, and I’m so happy that she’s on this new journey and shining.
"She’s still got hurdles, but you know what, we’re all there to support her.”
They did not confirm that they were working together until Monday, however.
On working with her previously, Will said: “I just love her dedication and love for music.
“That’s just the way it is. I love how sweet she is, and how genuine she is — shy, but fierce. And I want to see her win.”
SEEING SIGNS
In June, fans started speculating that Britney was working on new music.
The buzz began after music producer Caleb Stone shared a photo online of himself with Stargate – a well-known producer duo – and dropped a hint about the Circus singer's musical future.
The photo showed the trio smiling together in front of what appeared to be a tufted wall of some kind.
The original caption read: "Spent the last 9 months in the Siberian alps making beats for the new Britney Spears album w bros @stargate - big tings coming."
Caleb deleted it shortly after, but not before a fan account could get a grab.
The original post was reshared on the fan account with a lengthy caption asking fans for their thoughts on potential new music to come from the Toxic singer.
It read in part: "Britney has said on multiple occasions she quit the industry. However, in 2022 she collaborated with Elton John on 'Hold Me Closer.'"
Fans appeared to be in support of the idea for the most part.
One commenter speculated: "She is def up to something. Her Instagram is literally just a distraction, so she is left alone, there is a reason why no one's seen her, because that's what she's wanted. She wanted a year or two for herself, and she's gotten it. People have so much expectations from her, she needed to heal, and she has through her music."
A second fan wrote: "I don't see why he would be lying to be honest. I think it's real and he might have gotten in trouble because maybe an album is being made secretly."
A third fan suggested: "Britney could be making music for the fun of it and if and when it's released she won't do what the industry has told her for years she had to do which was Promote Promote promote....She could have it released out into the world and then go on with living her free life doing as she pleases."
