The actress, who played Stacey, is joining forces with her on-screen in-laws Alison Steadman and Larry Lamb for a brand new show.

She has provided the voiceover for a travelogue where the pair will travel from Barry to Billericay - the two homes of the BBC comedy.

It's the first glimmer of hope that a reunion of the full cast could be on the cards as James Corden heads back to the UK after years in America.

Joanna  said: “Alison and Larry have just done a show where they're going from Barry to Billericay and I’ve done the voiceover and I found it really difficult to voice because I was watching them and I kept missing my cue.

“And I was going ‘look at them, they're like my mum and dad!’

“I couldn't take it seriously because I was smiling and laughing.”

Perhaps now is the time to get the whole gang back together?

“That would be so lovely. When we all first started it was like an instant family. We’re all still constantly in touch with each other, my gosh we send each other so many messages.

"We struggle to even make time for our own families.

";But then I agree, we have GOT to find out what Smithy says to Nessa!"

Since taking six years away from the limelight to raise her kids,  Joanna will be back on screens on Tuesday as part of ITV1’s Cooking With The Stars

The self-proclaimed kitchen dunce is paired with Michelin star chef Michael Caines to learn to cook - and bizarrely she found the experience similar to filming Gavin and Stacey.

Joanna said: “I've never done a show since Gavin and Stacey where we all bonded so much.

“As soon as the show finished, I couldn't stop crying, I thought: ‘I can't bear to not have these people in my life’.

“This job and Gavin and Stacey are the only jobs where it was like a family.”

Joanna trained alongside other celebs including Matt Willis, Peter Andre and Indiyah Polack.

She added: “I went into this thinking I was going to have a lovely time, learn how to cook a few meals and maybe eventually be able to do a dinner party for my friends.

“Before I thought ‘oh well, food is just energy, as long as I've got all the food groups for my children, that’ll do’.

“When we first went into the kitchen I was so shocked at all the kitchen apparatus, I had no idea what anything was used for I didn't even know any herbs or spices. I didn't have a clue. “

The series has been transformative for Joanna, who is known to be selective with her TV work.

She said: “Ever since I left drama school my approach has always been to have fun, am I going to have a laugh, am I going to learn something.

“Cooking With The Stars is the first show I’ve ever done which does not have any performing in it so it was totally alien territory.

“I didn't ever think I’d get this passionate about cooking and realise it's a complete sensory experience, it's not about just shoving food on a plate.

“I don't have any regrets about any job I've ever done, but this one has been life-changing.
