Anthony, 34, won bronze in boxing at the London 2012 Olympics but was stuck with a career-ending injury to his eye in 2016, forcing him to later take early retirement.

A TV insider told us: "Anthony has been through a lot of adversity in recent years, including countless operations on his eye, so he is used to facing extreme challenges.

"He is a very positive guy and he will throw himself into this endurance test like he does everything else. Expect him to go very far as he is no quitter."

Anthony, who was registered blind due to loss of sight in his left eye, took part in Strictly Come Dancing in 2015, during which he was partnered with Oti Mabuse.

More on SAS Who Dares Wins

The Sun has contacted Channel 4 for comment.

Last week we told how shamed actor John Barrowman had signed up for the show.

John, 56, is a household name on British TV thanks to his long career in show business.

But in May 2021, he came under fire following allegations of sexual misconduct.

Anthony and John will be joined by stars including Boris Johnson's sister Rachel, Love Island star Ovie Soko and Towie's Pete Wicks who was forced to pull out last year after a nasty accident during filming.
