Emmerdale star Emma Atkins issues warning to fans after discovering disturbing catfish account

EMMERDALE legend Emma Atkins has warned her Instagram followers about a fake account pretending to be her on Twitter.

Emma's Instagram feed, which has over 176k followers, is filled with picturesque nature shots of landscapes, trees and animals around her humble abode.

The 48-year-old actress' Instagram bio reads: "Full time practitioner of kindness, happy in nature with my boys and the odd tree picture."

On Monday, the Emmerdale star took to her Instagram stories to warn her fans about a Twitter account pretending to be her.

She wrote: "Someone is pretending to be me on Twitter with an identical account called @missematkins please don't follow it is a FAKE ACCOUNT.

"They have used the same wording from my Instagram account to try and appear authentic. It is not."

Emma has portrayed the iconic role of Charity Dingle for over two decades.

The much-loved character has become a firm favourite with Emmerdale fans.

Some of her most powerful storylines include giving birth to daughter Debbie Dingle at just 13-years-old and being forced into child prostitution to having an affair with her husband Chris Tate's sister Zoe Tate. 

More recently, Charity uncovered her new husband Mackenzie is the father of Chloe's baby son Reuben after having a one night stand.

Talking about the aftermath of Mack's affair, Emma told : "There's got to be some level of vengeance, but a lot of it comes in the form of humour with Charity.

"She's trying to mask the real hurt by throwing ridiculous insults all through the village so that everybody can hear – that's her way.

 "I do like a bit of the old wild Charity because it's good to play.

"We've been told that towards the end of the year, there's something – we're not allowed to know what, but there's another triangle thing going on.

"Unfinished business perhaps, but the three of us aren't being told anything."

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1.
