I was on Judge Judy – the verdict was decided before we arrived & I couldn’t believe what Judy wore behind the stand
A FORMER participant of Judge Judy has revealed some major behind-the-scenes secrets.
The reality court show was fronted by former Manhattan Family Court Judge Judith Sheindlin.
It ran from September 1996 right up until July 2021 and won a legion of fans on both sides of the pond due to Judy's no-nonsense attitude towards those in her courtroom.
Judy dealt with adjudicated real-life small-claims disputes and a former participant has revealed how the show was filmed in a Reddit post.
They wrote: "I was on Judge Judy back in 2010. Our case was real and hand-picked by the production team.
"We had to pull the case from real court in order to go on her show."

They continued: "The decision of who 'wins and loses' is made before you even walk into the courtroom set. The audience is all actors paid to sit there."
They then made a surprising revelation about what Judy wore under her court robes.
They wrote: "Judge was wearing jeans and slippers under her robe. Also, she's incredibly quiet in real life. As in, I had to really strain to hear her."
Ultimately, they enjoyed the experience despite 'losing' their case.

"I also got paid to be on the show AND when I 'lost' the show paid the other guy for me. Pretty amazing really."
