KATE Garraway has revealed her sick husband Derek Draper "burst into tears" after witnessing her being awarded an MBE.
The Good Morning Britain anchor, 56, was bestowed the award by Prince William with her spouse watching on in a ceremony at Windsor Castle yesterday.
Broadcaster Kate has worked tirelessly all the while caring for Derek, 55, after his life-changing illness.
The former political lobbyist remains "very damaged" after contracting Coronavirus at the start of the pandemic in 2020 and has since suffered issues such as sepsis.
Yesterday, the ITV stalwart was recognised for her services to broadcasting, journalism and charity.
For today's GMB, she pinned the award onto her smart orange blazer.

As she showcased her award in the studio, scenes of her special moment played out.
Her co-host Ben Shephard, 48, said: "Ah look at them all in the back shot," referring to Derek and Kate's family, and she confessed: "Ah I know, Derek burst into tears.
"The lovely thing was Prince William said 'how's Derek' and I said 'here's here!'
"So we turned and saw and then obviously Derek was very tearful and then spoke about Jake [Derek's carer] and gave Jake a wave as well.

"Prince William said he wanted to go over but he's not allowed to leave the rug.
"There's a very fancy red and gold carpet that he stands on."
Later in the episode, she thanked her co-stars and loved ones for coming.
Kate added: "It was lovely at the castle there were so many people who wanted to shake Derek's hand and say 'my father, my husband my brother ... what you've gone through has given us a lot of hope.
"Because they are dealing with things from Covid but also other things like cancer which are difficult.
"So I think he got a huge amount from it as well, which was very very lovely."
She added: "48 hours before he was in hospital - it has been a tough 10 days for him.
"He was determined to be there."
Ben then revealed that Kate and her colleagues had a party afterwards to celebrate - where cheeky Derek swiped someone else's champagne.
Meanwhile, Kate looked stunning for the special occasion on Wednesday in a cream dress with a pleated skirt and a matching fascinator.
Derek looked very smart in a suit and tie as he watched his wife chat to Prince William from his wheelchair.
Kate's TV career spans more than three decades, and she's been a fixture on morning telly with ITV since 2000 when she joined GMTV from Sky.
She is a regular co-host of Good Morning Britain and has presented two National Television Award-winning documentaries about husband Derek's plight after he contracted Covid in March 2020 and suffered life-threatening complications.
