Celebrity Gogglebox fans go wild as ‘TV legends’ are reunited 11 years after their huge sitcom went off air
CELEBRITY Gogglebox fans are thrilled after a pair of iconic "TV legends" made their debut on the the popular show.
Sue Johnston and Ricky Tomlinson from The Royle Family opened the latest instalment of Celebrity Gogglebox on Friday night - and viewers were delighted.
The couple are adored by the nation for their portrayal of Jim and Barbara Royale in the BBC sitcom, which ran from 1998 to 2000.
But although the comedy returned for several specials from 2006 to 2012, it hasn't been on air since then.
As a result, telly fans were jumping for joy to see 'Jim and Barbara' together - especially to discuss the TV, which is what they were famed for doing on The Royale Family.
Taking to Twitter, one Celebrity Gogglebox viewer raved: "I LOVE that Ricky Tomlinson and Sue Johnston are basically their Royle Family characters in real life!"

Another added: "I just love Sue Johnston and Ricky Tomlinson. They will be forever be known as Barb and Jim Royle. Proper legends."
A third wrote: "Our Jim and Barbara reunited! Ricky Tomlinson and Sue Johnston are TV legends."
And a fourth chimed in: "Sue Johnston & Ricky Tomlinson on #CelebrityGogglebox.. bloody brilliant!!"
Someone else even shared their own lovely theory about Jim and Barbara Royale.
"I like to think that this is actually Jim & Barbara & and they've won the lottery," they said.
Sue, 71, and 83-year-old Ricky opened Celebrity Gogglebox with a hilarious tale.
Ricky recalled the time he was mistaken for Hollywood actor George Clooney while wearing a Covid mask, before going on to chat about the week's TV.
The duo gave their opinions on This Morning and King Charles' televised Trooping The Colour, along with horror movie M3GAN.
Ricky also had Sue and the viewers at home in stitches with another story about the time he once almost asked A-list actor Robert De Niro if 'he was in showbiz'.
Meanwhile, Celebrity Gogglebox fans were also treated to a first appearance from good pals Beverley Knight and Adam Lambert.
