Viewers incorrectly said Janet herself worked for the channel and helped Molly get on the show.

Others because suspicious because Molly has previously visited both the South Africa and Mallorca Love Island sets and also Emmerdale, another ITV show.

But Janet responded to one fan on social media, writing: “I just want to put you all straight on this ‘producer plant’ rubbish.

“I do NOT work for ITV!! I never have! And don’t know where this ridiculous idea has come from.

“I’m a teacher and part time actress and mum! Unless there is someone with the same name at ITV, but it’s 100% not me.

“So please don’t believe this nonsense, it’s not fair on us or Molly.

“We are a hard working family and these comments are unfair and untrue. There… I feel better.”

Janet has appeared on Corrie three times, and her other credits include roles in Where The Heart Is, Bodies, In The Dark, Love, Lies and Records, Still Open All Hours and the short film Cerulean.

The Sun previously told how Molly hit it off with telly bosses after she was invited to tour the winter Love Island villa in January 2023.

A source said at the time: “She was on the tour as an invited guest when she caught the eyes of producers.

“Molly made it clear she would love to be a part of Love Island and she was told to audition.”

Before trying her luck on Love Island, Molly appeared in theatre productions across the UK, including roles in national tours of the musical Oliver! and the pantomime Sleeping Beauty.

Prior to entering the villa, Molly said she was braced for a backlash from some viewers over her background.

The 21-year-old told The Sun: “Being in the industry, I know the good that comes with it, I know the bad and I’ve had a bit of both already — it is in my blood really.

“I hope people don’t see me as a plant, I don’t want people to think that it’s been an easy route just because I’ve been to the villas. It has been a long and hard process. It’s been difficult.”
