TEN Pound Poms fans made a huge demand as the BBC period drama aired its cliffhanger finale last night.

The drama followed a group of Brits who depart post-war Britain in 1956 after being sold a dream of a new way of life in Australia for only £10.

However, as Ten Pound Poms progressed, the new arrivals come to find things are not exactly as they were been promised.

The six-episode series has been airing on Sunday nights on BBC One.

Michelle Keegan, 36, starred in the new show alongside the likes of Game Of Thrones actress Faye Marsay and Luther star Warren Brown.

As the corporation aired the series finale, fans took to Twitter in their droves to demand a second series of the show.

One fan wrote: "Just another request for a second series of #TenPoundPoms. It's a piece of social history worth exploring. And the complexities of 1950s Australian society were you not ignored."

"Ten Pound Poms was so bloody good and if we don’t get a series 2 I might actually cry," penned a second.

Meanwhile, a third viewer commented: "Wow, just binged @ElevenFilm's #TenPoundPoms Brilliant, didn't want it to end. I hope #bbc commission series 2. Too many cliffhangers. Amazing cast, great writing and production."

Whilst a fourth said: "Caved and binged #TenPoundPoms on iplayer. Really loved it," before they asked: "So, @BBCOne any plans for season 2?"

A fifth exclaimed: "Just watched #TenPoundPoms and my god….worth every second. @michkeegan and @warrenisbrown were absolutely FANTASTIC, Warren man, the moustache suits you so well! god I hope to see more of this. Bring in Season 2!"

And a sixth fan added: "I hope there is a season 2 of this nonsense #TenPoundPoms."

During the final episode viewers watched as Annie made a stand for migrants and planned a peaceful protest.

Michelle's character Kate was also reunited with her son who had been taken away from her.

The show then came to an end as more unsuspecting Brits arrived at the campsite, realising they had been misled.

But some viewers were left unimpressed with the "lazy" ending of the show as they ripped into the BBC.

Taking to social media, one said: "Just binge watched #TenPoundPoms another typical @BBC drama where the writer didnt know how to write an ending. What a crock of s**t. How many more @BBC dramas before we get one with a well written ending and not a lazy cop out."

A second wrote: "Hmm disappointed with the ending of #tenpoundpoms I guessed they've done it that way to allow a possible second series?"

"Bad week on telly for me, binge watched Ten Pound Poms and enjoyed it right up to a s**t ending," said a third.
