Hit drama axed after seven series – despite fan favourite character returning for final season
HIT US drama Billions has been axed and will not return after its seventh season.
Show bosses have confirmed that the programme will come to an end, much to the disappointment of fans, after its next run.
Fans will be able to tune into the final edition of the popular programme this August on Paramount+.
Emmy award winning actor Damian Lewis will return to the programme as Bobby 'Axe' Axelrod, in a move that will delight long-term fans of the show.
Chris McCarthy, president of US network Showtime, said of its end: “Billions has deftly explored power, money and greed in a way that not only made it a massive hit, but also defined its own genre."
He added: "This final season is packed full of the incredible, complex dialogue and character dynamics fans have come to love, and we are thrilled to partner with them on turning this hit series into a global franchise."
