I was on Love Island but can’t watch any more as I know how staged it is

A LOVE Island star has revealed they will not be watching this year’s show as they know how much it’s staged for the cameras.

The latest series of the ITV2 dating reality show, hosted by Maya Jama, burst on to screens earlier this week promising to be bigger and better than ever before.

Charlie Brake, 28, appeared on the show in 2018 and was immediately dubbed the villa's "poshest-ever" resident thanks to his privileged upbringing, high-end taste, and hailing from Chelsea, London.

The socialite, whose grandfather is the founder of the food distribution company Brakes, coupled up with Ellie Brown but the two split not long after they left the show.

And now, almost five years after his stint on Love Island, Charlie says he can no longer watch the series because he knows exactly how it works.

Speaking exclusively to The Sun at the Gelida Devices Summer Summit at Nobu Portman Hotel in London, he said: "I haven’t tuned in since the year after I was in it, so 2019.

"I was an avid watcher the year before I went on it, then you kind of know [what’s the deal].

"I think it’s all a bit staged, not to the point where people tell you what to do, but runners and executives will come in and they’ll put you in a position and go and grab Adam for a chat about the argument he’s had with x, y and z.

"So they’ll put you in a position, but they don’t tell you what to say.

"I know the deal, so once I see a conversation or whatever, I know exactly how it’s been choreographed."

Charlie isn't the only former contestant to spill the beans about what goes on behind-the-scenes in the villa.

Olivia Hawkins, 27, let slip a short phrase that means Love Island contestants are to be removed from the villa immediately.

The actress and boxing ring girl found fame on the ITV2 dating show earlier this year.

Olivia talked about needing some time out from filming during the hectic daily schedule at the South African villa.
