And he said mum Ntokozo Precious Matale was so devastated by what was happening to her son that she was on the verge of suicide when he begged her to sign consent papers for the life-changing op.

The 27-year-old is the bookies’ favourite to win the ITV talent show tonight, after impressing all four judges with his powerful dance routines while using crutches.

And 16 years after losing his leg, Musa said his mum is overwhelmed with pride.

He said: “My mum won’t be attending the finals but she has seen the shows and will be watching from home.

“She feels proud and blessed to see me perform.”

Musa, who lives in London but grew up in South Africa, said after he was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, he was housebound for six months.

He added: “The skin around my knee was starting to rot and peel.”

Speaking to a South African publication about the moment he was told his life depended on the surgery, he said: “My mum didn’t want to, but I wanted the pain to go away.
