This Morning’s Sharon Marshall suffers horror journey to British Soap Awards after taxi engine ‘explodes’
THIS Morning's soap expert Sharon Marshall suffered a horror journey to the British Soap Awards.
The engine in the taxi she was travelling 'exploded" - and she ended up pushing the broken down vehicle in her ballgown.
Sharon was en route to the ceremony in Salford, Greater Manchester when she experienced the unexpected delay.
She told fans: "Taxi car engine just exploded.
"Now pushing the poor driver and his broken cab up Salford Quays in my ballgown if anyone drives past and can help!
"Ok, arriving on foot, slightly oily hands.."
Phillip Schofield has hosted the awards since 2006, but announced he was quitting ITV after admitting he had an affair with a This Morning employee he met as a teen.
He has been replaced by soap superfan Jane McDonald who used to be on Loose Women.
In a statement shared on Instagram, the 60-year-old said: "Everyone knows how much I LOVE my soaps, this year I've been honoured to be mentioned in Corrie, EastEnders and Emmerdale so this is just a dream come true.
"I can't wait to see all our wonderful soap nominees and celebrate all their hard work with them - roll on the awards, I can't wait."
