Phillip Schofield quits Dancing On Ice as he resigns from ITV – leaving Holly Willoughby without a co-host
PHILLIP Schofield's resignation from ITV has left Holly Willoughby without a co-host on Dancing on Ice.
The star, who fronted This Morning for 21 years, announced tonight he was leaving the channel "with immediate effect".
Dancing On Ice, which Phillip has fronted since it started in 2006, is made by one of ITV's production companies and shown on ITV1.
The TV presenter - who left This Morning on Saturday – released a bombshell statement after it was revealed he had an affair with a much younger male ITV employee.
He addressed the affair and announced he would be leaving ITV and his forthcoming gig hosting the soap awards.
He wrote: "I have therefore decided to step down from the British Soap Awards, my last public commitment, and am resigning from ITV with immediate effect expressing my immense gratitude to them for all the amazing opportunities that they have given me.

"I will reflect on my very bad judgement in both participating in the relationship and then lying about it."
Several big names have been tipped as potential replacements for Phillip on Dancing On Ice, including Stephen Mulhern, who has hosted in his absence in the past.
Others have suggested husband-and-wife hosts Rochelle and Marvin Humes could front the show together.
Phillip has hosted the British Soap Awards since 2006, which is the same year he first did Dancing On Ice.
