TV bosses make massive change to Gladiators for iconic show’s reboot – and fans won’t be happy
SKIMPY costumes worn by female Gladiators in the original series have been binned for the reboot.
Spandex tops and pants as worn by Jet, real name Diane Youdale, will be replaced by outfits favoured by Team GB athletes such as Keely Hodgkinson.
A TV insider said: “These flimsy costumes were deemed acceptable when the show started but they’re probably a bit too revealing today.
“The new ones won’t be too stuffy as they’ll highlight the female stars’ incredible physiques.”
Suzanne Cox, Vogue in the ITV series from 1992 to 2000, had to use bum glue to stop her outfit shifting out of place.
She said: “I remember Cobra (Michael Wilson) joking to us: ‘When I die I want to come back as a bum stick’”.
