Lola Pearce’s tragic death revealed as her family say goodbye in EastEnders

THE end is near for Lola Pearce as her condition continues to get worse.

EastEnders star Danielle Harold will bow out of the BBC One soap in tear-jerking scenes.

Fans of the London-based drama have all been dreading the inevitable as Lola's brain tumour has slowly taken over.

However, next week, the reality that Lola is reaching the end of her life is dawning on the hairstylist's loved ones more than ever before.

Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick) calls in nurse Suzanne when his terminally ill wife suffers another seizure.

The mechanic is devastated when he's told Lola is nearing the end of her life.

Lola's grandfather Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick) panics as he tries to get a young Lexi, Will and Janet out of the house to protect them from what is happening.

His stress levels skyrocket due to the horrifying reality that he's about to lose his beloved granddaughter and, after a few drinks, Billy has run-in with Nish Panesar (Navin Chowdhry) who deliberately winds him up.

A raging Billy smashes the window of the Minute Mart until Martin Fowler (James Bye), Honey Mitchell (Emma Barton) and Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) physically restrain him.

Things go from bad to worse when Nish demands justice and Phil throws money at him for the repairs.

When Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) arrives to diffuse the situation, Billy accidentally hits him in the face while Nish continues to stir.

A heartbroken Billy is arrested on the spot while Walford residents hurry to Lola's bedside to say their goodbyes.

Kim Fox (Tameka Empson) tries to hide her anxiety symptoms when she and her sister Denise (Diane Parish) visit Lola.

The fan-favourite character is desperately weak but glad to see the pair and she's thrilled when friends and neighbours let her know they are thinking of her.

Unfortunately, this doesn't stop her condition from getting worse and she becomes unresponsive.

Jay tries to tend to her until he's told there will be long periods of unconsciousness.

Nurse Suzanne lets everybody know it's time for Lola's loved one to say their goodbyes - just as Billy remains behind bars and Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden) is nowhere to be found.

Jay battles with saying goodbye to Lola, as Phil also struggles with the situation.

Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) and Callum Highway (Tony Clay) go into Lola's bedroom and say goodbye, promising to look after her daughter Lexi for her.

Lola eventually breathes her last, surrounded by her loved ones.

EastEnders airs from Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One.
