Coronation Street’s Audrey Roberts and Gail Platt stars’ shocking real life age gap is a far cry from soap
CORONATION Street fans have been shocked to discover the real-life age gap between the actresses who play Gail Platt and her mum Audrey Roberts.
The mother and daughter duo - who are played by Sue Nicholls and Helen Worth in the ITV soap - aren't quite as far apart in age as expected.

Television shows often cast people who may not necessarily reflect the exact age of the characters they’re playing but the difference between Sue and Helen is particularly surprising.
Coronation Street’s favourite mother-and-daughter duo Gail Platt and Audrey Roberts are a lot closer in age behind the cameras than they are on the cobbles.
Gail, played by Helen Worth is 72, while her on-screen mother Audrey, played by Sue Nicholls is 79.
Both joined the ITV soap in the '70s and have been part of some of the most explosive storylines in the show's history.

However, it isn't just murderous sons, thieving grandsons and owning a trendsetting salon (she was the first to offer the Farah Fawcett flick, natch) that has captured viewers' imaginations.
Many fans have clocked that there are just seven years between the two actors.
One observant viewer tweeted: "Helen Worth is 71, born January 1951 Sue Nicholls is 79, born November 1943 Therefore Audrey gave birth to Gail when she was seven years old... scandalous! #Corrie".
"They both look amazing!" added another fan.

In 2024 Helen will mark 50 years on the soap and is the second longest-running star on the show after William Roache, who plays Ken Barlow.
