The Dave original was a hit when it first aired in 2018 and has been made available to watch on BBC iPlayer.

The concept followed a similar format to Judge Judy and Judge Rinder but with a comedic spin - and also starred comic Tom Davis as Romesh Ranganathan's trusty bailiff and Jessica Knappett as the court clerk.

It won a second series in 2019 with Romesh continuing to issue justice to members of the public and their trivial disputes.

But when asked at Sunday's BAFTA TV Awards if it would make a comeback, the star - who hosted the ceremony with Rob Beckett - replied in his self-deprecating style: "I have no plan, there is no long-term plan.

"I’m just floating from thing to thing until I get found out and then in years to come you’ll be at the park and be like, that guy looks like Romesh Ranganathan."

That's unlikely to happen after the former maths teacher and son of a publican replaced the legendary Anne Robinson as host of The Weakest Link in 2021.

He fronted a second celebrity version last year, and Romesh wants to return to the podium to roast more famous faces.

He said: "I think people are comfortable with celebrities getting roasted.

"We're finding our way with it and we wanted to see how it went. I wasn't entirely sure if I'd be good at hosting a quiz show, so I was a bit reluctant, but The Weakest Link is such an iconic show and I enjoy it."

Despite being best known as a comedian, Romesh was relatively successful as a freestyle rapper, and once succeeded in reaching the finals of a freestyle competition.

The Arsenal fan has appeared on a host of comedy panel shows in the UK, including Mock The Week, Sweat The Small Stuff, Have I Got News for You, Would I Lie To You? and Play To The Whistle.

After they hit it off on Judge Romesh, he now presents a popular podcast with Tom Davies called Wolf and Owl, and previously hosted Hip Hop Saved My Life with RuMaj.

He has also performed his stand-up routine on Live At The Apollo.

On Sunday, Romesh couldn't resist a jibe at Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield on the BAFTAs stage.

It followed The Sun revealing the This Morning stars' huge fallout.
